Logistic service provider ATL has opened a new high spec distribution centre and additional office accommodation at its head office in Foston, Derbyshire, to deliver increased availability and attract new business.
The ambitious company has spent £8.5 million over 18 months of investment, which includes a new two chamber warehouse with a 32,000 pallet distribution centre.
The modern distribution centre has large areas of clear span, a low carbon footprint, 24/7 security and meets the BRC standards. The adjacent offices will be home to a new sales & marketing team which ATL are looking to attract, as part of its 50 additional new members of staff, to help the business on its journey of growth.
Pete Ascott, owner and sales director of the family-run logistic service provider, said: “We built the new distribution centre as a result of significant organic growth and demand from our customers. Over the last five years, we’ve doubled in size and we wanted to ensure that our business was investing in additional storage and office space to accommodate this existing and future growth.”
“It’s been three years in the making and we are really pleased with how it looks and how much detail has gone into ensuring it’s been built with the highest standards in mind. It’s now available for new business and we are also looking to recruit more staff, especially LGV drivers and warehouse operatives with a fortklift truck licence, to help us to achieve our vision. If anyone is interested in a career with us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.”
The £8.5 million investment also includes a new MOT preparation facility as part of its Vehicle Maintenance Unit. This high-spec facility has a 23 metre inspection pit to deal with extra-long trailers and is planning to do body repairs in the future.
Pete added: “We’ve got lots of plans for the test facility which we hope will result in it becoming a one-stop-shop and the premier HGV and trailer repair workshop in Derbyshire. We will be looking at taking bookings for MOT services in the spring.”
