We all have been going through significant changes in the past few months that have effected all our daily lives and working environments. Restrictions imposed by the Government and the demands created by Covid-19 have forced everybody to be creative and responsive whilst looking for different ways of working and communicating with each other.
ATL employees have shown admirable resourcefulness in meeting the challenges we have faced in dealing with day to day difficulties an keeping the business running. Classified as key workers, we have always ensured that all our frontline customers, across many critical sectors of business, are able to receive goods on time. No matter how difficult the last few months have been, our people have stepped up to the plate, with many working extremely hard.

ATL is pleased to announce that it has expanded its Board of Directors with the appointment of Joel Thompson to IT & Systems Development Director as of 1st April 2020.
Joel has been with the company for over nine years, and has been at the forefront of ATL’s systems development throughout these years.
Joel says of his appointment “My focus, along with that of my team, is to continue to drive software and development improvements within the business that enable us to work more effectively through integrated software solutions that complement each other.
“These developments will allow us where possible to have uniform processes for daily operations, while providing our customers with bespoke systemic solutions to meet their needs and strengthen our relationships with them.”
“Through the hard work of my team alongside our colleagues throughout the business, we have already made improvements in this vein with several of our key customers.”
There is however still significant work to be done to continue to enhance ATL’s growth and enable the company to excel in an increasingly digital workplace, he believes.
“To achieve these goals there are ongoing changes to adapt the department to meet these needs while maintaining the traditional support requirements that are expected.”
“I’d like to thank the Directors for providing me with this opportunity, and I look forward to working with all of them to exceed our targets through the months and years ahead.”
ATL Managing Director Jon Ward adds “I am delighted that Joel has agreed to join the Board as he has been an important member of the team throughout his career at ATL.
Joel’s position on the Board will be invaluable in helping us plan, design, build, test, and most importantly deliver IT systems, that bring us closer to our customers and further our growth.”

On Wednesday the 24th of July, ATL proudly celebrated 60 years in business. To recognise this achievement, a summer fair was held in our Foston and Carlisle sites to thank all of our dedicated employees for their hard work over the years.
The events featured games, food, prizes and gifts for every single employee.
“We wanted to be able thank our staff and give them back something for all their hard work over the years in helping make ATL such a success,” explains ATL Managing Director Jon Ward.
“It’s an exciting time for our business, and we’re sure the 60th anniversary celebrations will be remembered as a fun and engaging experience by all those who took part.”
A cake-cutting ceremony was held with Jon Ward and Norma Ascott, who expressed how proud she was in the growth of ATL and its plans for the future.
Special thanks go to Lichfield Entertainments, Balloon Artworks, Derby mini marquee hire and Cakestack‘s Lynn Billings for providing outstanding service and making our day so memorable.
Last week Team ATL; Jon Ward (Managing Director), Andy Partington (Head of HR) and Stephan Moss (Group Transport Manager) completed their challenge, and spent 4 days cycling from London to Paris (308 miles) all to raise money for Rainbows Hospice; the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people suffering from life-shortening conditions. So far successfully raising £1,508.
With overnight stops including Calais, Arras and Compiegne before finishing the 28 hour run to make it successfully to Paris on the fourth day.
Upon completing the challenge Stephan Moss, Group Transport Manager said
“This has been one of the best experiences yet for me, and I can’t thank Jon and Andy enough for this amazing journey. ATL made this happen, I was just here at the right time”
We are extremely proud of Team ATL and what they have achieved with this challenge so a massive congratulations to the trio.

To mark 60 years in business, ATL has added four brand new DAF XF trucks to our ever-growing fleet.
As we already run a large number of DAF units from Imperial Commercials, we acted quickly upon hearing the news that these trucks had become available.
To showcase our 60th Anniversary, we have opted for two unique liveries. The first, to pay tribute to where it all started on the 24th of July 1959. A Brown and Cream, vintage colour scheme.
Adorned with diamond graphics and named after our founders Dennis and Norma. These two stand out amongst the currently uniformed fleet.
The remaining two are in a striking modern blue and silver design, maintaining the diamond details.
Procurement Officer, Laura MacDonald stated, “We have a very long-standing relationship with Imperial commercials and they are aware of all our requirements and expectations so we acted quickly when we learned the vehicles were available.”
