Before Jon Joined ATL in April 2018, Jon previously worked as Managing Director for two major automotive companies, including one of ATL’s customers – Mitas Tyres. During his time at Mitas, Jon was able to double turnover in three years, whilst increasing profit and encouraging a cohesive team culture. He also has extensive sales experience throughout his career, including assembling his own high performing sales team.
As Managing Director at ATL, Jon’s focus is strategic in taking ATL in a more commercial direction and growing the business to take it to the next level. His ultimate aim is to achieve £50m turnover within five years. Jon is very active in his spare time and is kept busy with Caterham Seven Motorsport racing, cycling, open water swimming and rock climbing.
Andy spent 25 years in the Royal Air Force working in HR & training – including leadership and management – and was deployed to areas such as Afghanistan, Iraq and the Falkland Islands. Whilst he was in the military, Andy completed his CIPD accreditation and went on to work in HR and Learning & Development in the professional services, construction and logistics sectors.
Andy started at ATL in May 2017 with a mission to develop a HR strategy to support key corporate objectives, as part of heading up HR, EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) and Learning & Development. In his spare time, Andy has a passion for rugby, especially watching the Leicester Tigers and the Welsh Rugby Union.
From the age of 15-years-old, Ricardo started his own business making and selling silver gemstone jewellery to the trade and opened up two shops in Nottingham. Unfortunately the recession hit and Ricardo decided to go back to sixth form and got an IT qualification. He began working in warehouses in the e-commerce and sales teams and worked his way up to a Supervisor then on to become Warehouse Manager.
In 2014, he was headhunted by a former colleague and joined ATL initially as a Commercial Manager. Due to his background in a warehouse environment, he naturally moved to become Warehouse Operations Manager with the aim of managing staff and putting teams in place. His role is now more strategically focused, looking into how we can make the most of our warehousing facilities going forward.
At the age of 18-years-old, Leighton bought a van and set up his own courier company after being inspired by his dad, who was a lorry driver. The company grew and he took on three subcontractors and acquired contracts with some well-known companies. However, after five years, he decided to join a large transport company as a planner so he could demonstrate what he had learnt and worked his way up to Team Leader within a couple of years.
In July 2017, Leighton took an opportunity as a Planning Manager at ATL and within just over six months he became Head of Distribution. His role involves overseeing all transport, from planning to driver management. This also includes managing revenue versus costs and looking for new business to expand the company. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and is a big Manchester United fan.
After starting as an AAT account apprentice, Matt worked his way up to become a Management Accountant for an air freight transport company and then a fish & chip shop chain. He started his CIMA qualification and moved to ATL in 2015 as a Management Accountant, where he finished his qualification.
Matt was given an opportunity to head up the finance department and has helped grow and develop the team ever since. As Financial Controller, Matt’s overall responsibility is for overseeing and maintaining financial records and the cash flow of the company. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family.
Whilst Joel was completing his IT degree at Derby University, he had the opportunity to work at ATL on a placement during his third year in 2011. He really enjoyed his experience and decided to stay at ATL and complete his degree around work in the evenings.
Joel now heads up the IT team with the aim to continually improve the IT infrastructure and maintain and support the software and hardware. The team identify potential issues before they arise and make sure back-ups are in place. Besides fixing IT issues, Joel looks into how we can utilise software to move the business forward. In his spare time, Joel enjoys keeping up to date with technology and watching motor sport.
