Job purpose

To develop, lead and manage multiple logistics contracts.

Special Conditions

Monday – Friday (45 Hours)

Timings Monday – Friday 8:00 am to 5:30pm

Travel to sites throughout the UK is expected

Main duties and responsibilities

HR Responsibilities

1 Provide a positive and encouraging atmosphere at all times to ensure all staff work to the best of their abilities.

3 Working with all members of staff to maintain and develop a positive progressive culture within the business.

4 Manage all aspects of effective management and supervision, training & development and employee relations of the wider team.

5 Conduct weekly meetings with subordinates to include the dissemination of Company messages through departmental managers.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

6 Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health, Safety and Environmental regulations, the company handbook, Quality standards and all other company policies and procedures.

7 Responsible for the effective management and supervision of health, safety & welfare for the wider.

Quality Responsibilities

8 Ensure all processes are adhered to by all managers and staff.

9 Analyse management reports in order to continuously improve processes and outcomes.

Operational Responsibilities

10 In consultation with HoW, ensure department is within budgets and monitor expenditure.

11 Assist in the identification of additional and potential opportunities with the customer, reporting upwards as required.

12 Management of allocated MHE to include, but not limited to, before use checks, defect reporting etc.

13 Management of the allocation of storage availability within area of responsibility.

14 Ensuring that customer complaints are resolved in the most efficient manner.

15 Ensuring that regular internal reviews are conducted to ensure that customer needs are being met and excellent customer service is being achieved whilst developing future improvements for the customers.

16 Collating and analysing business data pertinent to the contract.

17 Ensuring that all commercial contractual activities meet or improve on budget, cost, volume and efficiency targets (KPIs).

18 Ensuring great relations and communications with the wider team members and responding politely and in a timely fashion to internal and external customers.

You will from time to time be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager. You are required to follow all ATL policies and procedures at all times and take account of ATL guidance.

Criteria: Qualifications and Training


  • Qualified to Level 5 in Leadership and Management or demonstrable relevant experience
  • Valid UK Driving Licence


  • Educated to Degree Level
Criteria: Knowledge and Experience


  • Significant Logistics Management experience within the Transport and Warehousing environment
  • Demonstrable experience of gaining the best out of contracts for the betterment of the business
  • Demonstrable strategic aptitude and ability to match
  • Previous experience of measuring and reporting on cost control within a department
  • Previous experience gained within a similar role within the Logistics industry.

  • Gravitas, with the ability to build strong external relationships to enhance and strengthen the company’s profile
  • Strong Leadership Skills
  • Credible and confident communicator (written and verbal) at all levels of a business
