Job purpose

Supervise and work alongside a team of warehouse personnel to ensure the 24/7 provision of a professional incoming goods, storage and despatch service to customers, encompassing both speed and accuracy.

20:00 to 05:30

Main duties and responsibilities

HR Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for all aspects of the effective supervision, training & development and health, safety & welfare of your team.

Provide a positive and encouraging atmosphere at all times to ensure all staff work to the best of their abilities.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

Implement the company’s Health and Safety Policy, ensuring safe working conditions and practices within the Warehouse.

Support, comply and ensure complicity by self and team with Health, Safety and Environmental regulations, the company handbook, Quality standards and all other company policies and procedures.

Quality Responsibilities

Be responsible for ensuring that the quality of the product and service within the Warehouse is maintained at the highest possible standards for the customer.

Ensure quality procedures and team quality targets are strictly adhered to.

Operational Responsibilities

Plan and co-ordinate the incoming goods, storage and despatch of items in a timely and efficient manner to achieve your team objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as determined by the Warehouse Operations Manager (Carlisle).

To ensure effective, safe, accurate and timely stock management to include space allocation, stock transfer and dealing with non-confirming products.

Be a point of contact and support for Warehouse Operations Manager (Carlisle) with query resolution and inventory checks.

10 Organising and ensuring accurate and periodic cycle counts and stock takes are completed.

11 To ensure the safe loading/handling/unloading of all material.

You will from time to time be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature as reasonably required by your line manager. You are required to follow all ATL policies and procedures at all times and take account of ATL guidance

Person Specification

Criteria: Qualifications and Training


  • Qualified to GCSE Level in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Qualification in Supervisory Management


  • Current Fork Lift Truck Licence
  • Current Driving Licence

Criteria: Knowledge and Experience


  • Supervisory experience within a warehouse environment
  • Experience of managing teams within tight quality and efficiency parameters
  • Experience of people and performance management

Criteria: Skills and Aptitudes


  • Proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point
  • Ability to make effective decisions
  • Ability to constructively question, challenge and improve upon existing processes
  • High level of honesty and integrity
  • The ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Possess the ability to supervise and motivate a team of people to succeed by utilising appropriate interpersonal styles including leading by example
  • Resilience with an ability to keep calm under pressure and continue to follow the correct processes even under difficult circumstances

  • Ability to sustain and develop team working and team based problem solving
